Czech electricity, gas prices to rise sharply in 2022 – Minister Havlíček

Electricity prices look set rise 30 to 50 percent next year and gas prices by 50 to 70 percent, outgoing Minister for industry and trade Karel Havlíček told reporters on Monday.

The caretaker government will propose that a special session of the lower house meet on Wednesday to vote to cut VAT on energy to zero by 2022 and forgive households and companies payments for so-called subsidized energy sources.
