Czech Design Week returns with focus on young creators

The 12th edition of Czech Design Week gets underway in Prague on Thursday, bringing together about one hundred designers, brands, and studios. The festival runs through September 14.

While the functionalist Mánes Gallery serves as the main venue, the Baroque Clam-Gallas Palace in the Old Town is hosting the “New Generation” exhibition, spotlighting roughly 30 emerging artists whose work straddles design and fine art.

On display are works in glass, porcelain, jewellery, fashion, product and interior design, along with projects exploring technology and sustainability. Café Slavia on Národní třída is joining in with a design-themed menu that includes a dessert recipe from the 1930s.
