Czech currency strengthens to two-year high against euro

The Czech crown reached its strongest level against the euro in more than two years on Monday. By 5pm, the crown had firmed by four halers to 24.25 CZK/EUR compared to Friday’s close, the lowest rate since September 5, 2023. Against the U.S. dollar, the crown also gained, strengthening by six halers to 20.60 CZK/USD, according to data from Patria Online.

The Prague Stock Exchange opened the trading week in positive territory. The PX index rose by 0.42 percent to 2,303.59 points, supported by energy group ČEZ shares and, in the banking sector, Moneta Money Bank, according to stock exchange data.
