Czech Covid numbers continue to rise week-on-week
Some 2,979 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Czechia on Wednesday, 220 more than on the same day last week. Tests found that roughly 1,000 more people have been re-infected with the coronavirus, according to Ministry of Health data.
On Wednesday 1,134 people were hospitalised with Covid, with 40 of them in a critical condition. A week earlier there were around 370 fewer Covid patients in hospitals.
The current wave of the virus in Czechia began in early June. It should peak at the end of July, experts say, though numbers are unlikely to fall off greatly.
