Czech Constitutional Court Judge Kateřina Šimáčková awarded French Legion of Honour

One of the judges sitting on the Czech Republic’s Constitutional Court, Kateřina Šimáčková, received the Legion of Honour, France’s highest order of merit, for her role in promoting human rights, at the French Embassy in Prague on Tuesday, the Czech News Agency reports. The decision to award the judge was made this Summer by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Dr Šimáčková is set to become one of the judges at the European Court of Human Rights this December, replacing fellow Czech Aleš Pejchal. She has sat on the Constitutional Court since August 2013.
