Czech climbers trapped in Himalayas due to heavy fog, snow, near base camp
Czech climbers Marek Holeček and Radoslav Groh, trapped near the summit of the over 7,100-metre high Baruntse Mountain in the Himalayas since Tuesday due to heavy fog and snowfall, are on their way back to the base camp.
Nepal’s Home Ministry on Wednesday called for climbers to return immediately due to the weather. The experienced Czech climbers had no oxygen tanks and little food, but said via satellite phone on Friday night that they were fine and expected visibility to improve shortly.
