Czech charities launch public collections to help Beirut

Several Czech humanitarian organizations have launched collections to help those affected by the explosion in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, which killed at least 130 people and left around 5,000 injured.

People In Need, the largest NGO in Central Europe, has sent CZK 500,000 for the purchase of food, water and medicine. The Catholic charity Caritas Czech Republic has released CZK 300,000 of its own funds, while the Diaconia of the Evangelical Church of Brethren has sent CZK 800,000 to the Lebanese capital.
