Czech Autoclub wants Central European WRC race

The Czech Autoclub organisation is currently in negotiations with its German and Austrian counterparts to create a “Central European Rally”, which would be part of the World Rally Championship (WRC) racing series, news site E15.cz reported on Wendesday. The project is being pushed forward by Jan Šťovíček, the president of the Czech Autoclub who was recently also elected into the World Council of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

Mr Šťovíček told E15 that the project would expand on the already existing 3 Cities Rallye, which currently takes place on the territory of Germany and Austria, by incorporating the South Bohemian territory of Šumava. The Czech segment would encompass a third of the total race.

If the project is successful, the president of the Czech Autoclub says that the race could become a part of the WRC from 2024.
