Czech author and publisher Zdena Salivarová dies at 91
Author and translator Zdena Salivarová has died at the age of 91, Czech Radio reported citing the Czech Consul in Toronto, Šárka Ponroy-Vamberová.
Salivarová was the wife of writer Josef Škvorecký, with whom she had lived in Toronto since 1969. Together, they not only wrote their own books but also published works of other exiled authors through their legendary publishing house, Sixty Eight Publishers.
In 1990, both were awarded the Order of the White Lion for their outstanding contribution to Czech literature abroad. Josef Škvorecký died in 2012.
