Czech Army to use compensation from US to upgrade helicopters
The Czech Army will use compensation provided to Czechia by the United States for equipment delivered to Ukraine to upgrade eight donated helicopters. The aircraft will be delivered by 2026, Czech Air Force Commander Petr Čepelka said on Wednesday during a visit to the 22nd Helicopter Air Base in Náměšt' nad Oslavou in South Moravia.
The first new helicopters that Czechia ordered from the United States are set to arrive in May.
The US is providing Czechia with an additional USD 200 million to modernise its army in part compensation for materials the latter provided to Ukraine following its invasion by Russia.
