Czech Army stepping up recruitment this year

Some 1,800 men and women are now expected to join the Czech Army this year, up from the originally planned number of 700, Czech Television reported. The decision to increase the 2022 intake was made by the minister of defence, Jana Černochová.

Interest in both professional army service and joining army’s active reserves has increased due to Russia’s war on Ukraine, Czech TV said.

At present there are 27,000 men and women in the Czech Army. That figure should increase by 3,000 between now and 2030.
