Czech archaeologists unearth 800 silver coins from era of King Přemysl Otakar II

Archaeologists working in the Písek region have found a treasure trove of some 800 silver coins dating back to the 13th century, when Přemysl Otakar II was king of Bohemia. It is one of the largest such finds in the Czech Republic, archaeologists from the Prácheň Museum said.

The thin, one-sided silver coins are exceptionally well preserved and all of the same type, leading archaeologists to believe they did not enter circulation after having been minted.
