Czech and Polish cabinets discuss aid to Ukraine, energy security in Prague

The Czech Republic and Poland will do everything in their power to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s aggression, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said following a joint government session of the two cabinets in Prague on Friday. Prime Minister Morawiecki stressed that Ukraine must win this war, noting that Prague and Warsaw had a similar perception of the security threat posed by Russia.

Cabinet ministers debated aid for war-torn Ukraine, energy security, the Czech Republic’s upcoming presidency of the EU and a series of bilateral issues. The two sides also signed memoranda on cooperation in the areas of defense and transport. The neighbour states administrations maintain close contacts. Prime ministers Fiala and Morawiecki visited Kyiv together in mid-March, Polish President Andrzej Duda paid a state visit to the Czech Republic in April and Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský held talks in Warsaw in May of this year.
