Czech and British detectives form team linking two highly publicised criminal investigations
New information has been revealed about a joint team of Czech and British police officers who have connected the explosions in two munitions warehouses in Vrbětice, Czechia in 2014, in which two people were killed, and the poisoning of former Russian-British double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yuliya in Salisbury, England in 2018. Both cases have been linked to the Russian secret service, and Czech criminal investigators suspect that the same men are responsible for both the 2014 explosion and the attempted murder by poisoning.
The joint team was formed in February of this year to exchange information about suspects, but the National Centre for Combatting Organised Crime only released information about it on their website on Thursday. According to a spokesperson, the information could not be made public earlier.
