Customs officials confiscate over 400 kilos of psychostimulant drug Khat
Customs officials at Prague’s Vaclav Havel Airport are reported to have confiscated 462 kilos of the psychostimulant drug Khat (Catha edulis). The drug, packed in boxes was part of a special cargo delivery from Dubai. Customs officials have intercepted previous attempts to smuggle the drug to the Czech Republic, but never in such vast quantities. Catha edulis is a shrub native to the Horn of Africa and the Middle East. The leaves of this small tree are chewed by millions worldwide as a mild, amphetamine-like psychostimulant drug.
