Cultural sector funding to be debated at ministry meeting
Representatives of the state, cultural institutions and trade unions will meet at the Ministry of Culture on Tuesday to discuss funding for the sector. The so-called “small cultural tripartite” will address the impact of a proposed state budget allocation of approximately 17.6 billion CZK. This figure is about 1.17 billion CZK lower than the previous government’s proposal, prompting criticism from professional associations over cuts to ministry spending. Talks with Culture Minister Oto Klempíř have resulted in a promise to provide additional funding for some programs, with final decisions expected from the tripartite negotiations.
