Covid reproduction number in Czech Republic falls to 1.0

The Covid reproduction number in the Czech Republic has fallen to 1.0, which is regarded as the cut-off between the epidemic slowing down and accelerating. It had been above 1.0 since the end of August and reached up to 1.47 in the second week of this month.

On Thursday 488 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded, a fall of 60 on the same day last week.

The number in hospital with the virus stands at 164, the same as a week ago. Twenty-seven of those patients are in a critical condition.
