Covid numbers up again in week-over-week comparison

The Czech Republic registered 14,920 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, an increase of 1,750 on the same day a week ago. It is the first time this week that Covid numbers were up in a week-over-week comparison. The reproduction number rose from 0.91 to 0.94.

Health Minister Jan Blatny said on Friday that there was no question of relaxing the strict measures in place until after Easter. Around 200 people are still dying every day of Covid or related complications and close to 2,000 people are in a serious condition. Many hospitals have reached their capacity limit.
