Covid epidemic slowing despite easing of restrictions
Despite the easing of coronavirus restrictions the Covid-19 epidemic continues to recede with only 190 new cases reported on Thursday. On the same day last week there were 400 new cases. The number of new cases per week has dropped to 16 to 100,000 inhabitants. The highest number of infections is in the South Bohemian and the Liberec regions. The number of Coronavirus-related deaths have remained below ten per day for the past fortnight. In March they averaged around 200 a day.
According to the head of the Institute for health Information and Statistics Ladislav Dušek there are eight to nine districts which are still potentially risky and which need to watched to prevent the epidemic flaring up again.
