Covid cases rising, booster shots to be available as of Monday

Laboratories in Czechia registered 581 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, which is a fifth more that the number registered a week ago. The number of people hospitalized with Covid-19 rose by three-fifths to 418 compared to the previous Saturday, according to Health Ministry data. On workdays there are on average 2,000 newly confirmed cases a day. The summer Covid wave is expected to peak at the end of July. No restrictions have been imposed but the Health Ministry has recommended that people over 60 and those with chronic diseases get a booster shot. Booster shots will be available at vaccination centres as of Monday, without the need to register.
