Covid-19: Tuesday saw highest number of cases since April

On Tuesday, there were 6,274 confirmed cases of Covid-19 reported in the Czech Republic, almost twice as many as on the same day a week ago. The daily number of new infections had not exceeded 6,000 since April.

According to Ministry of Health data, on average there are 246 per 100,000 inhabitants infected in the past seven days, up by 29 since the previous Tuesday.

The percentage of positive test results has also increased significantly, reaching 3.14 percent on Tuesday, the highest since March. Laboratories performed about 105,000 tests on Tuesday, about 34,000 more than a week ago.
