Covid-19 risk index drops to fourth level over Christmas holidays

The Czech Republic’s Covid-19 risk index on the counter-epidemic system PES is reported to have dropped from the highest fifth level down to four over the Christmas holidays.

The risk index dropped from 81 pre-Christmas to 71 out of 100 and the reproduction number dropped from 1.05 to 0.94, according to data released by the Ministry of Health.

However epidemiologists say the Christmas holidays do not reflect the real state of affairs and the coming week should show a more accurate picture.

The government enforced a tight lockdown tagged to level five on Sunday which is to remain in place until January 10th.
