On Tuesday, coronavirus tests in the Czech Republic revealed 16,329 new cases, the highest daily total since the pandemic began, according to Ministry of Health data. The proportion of people testing positive also reached a new record, of 48.5 percent.
The government’s PES risk index is again at the highest, 5th level, which indicates a critical situation. The index rose is now nine points higher than on Tuesday, at 80 points out of 100. The reason is rise in new cases in the past two weeks and reproduction number to 1.0.
At present, the PES score is highest in the regions of Královéhradecký, Pardubický and Central Bohemia (excluding Prague). It is lowest in the regions of Karlovy Vary, Pilsen and Vysočina.
