Covid-19: first 20,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses arrive in Czech Republic on Saturday

The Czech Republic is due on Saturday to receive the first 20,000 of 3 million doses of AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine, approved for use in the EU a week ago by the European Commission.

The Health Ministry and vaccine distribution company Avenier will ensure deliveries until health insurance companies select an AstraZeneca distributor in a tender. Avenier already distributes Moderna’s vaccine here.

AstraZeneca country director Jarmila Dolečková has said the company should deliver over 170,000 doses in February. As of Thursday evening, the Health Ministry had received 327,800 doses in total of the Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines.
