Covid-19: fewest new cases for a Saturday in eight months

Only 1,169 new coronavirus cases were registered on May 1, the fewest for a Saturday since early September, according to Ministry of Health data. Just under 2,500 people remained hospitalized due to Covid-19, one-fifth of them in serious condition.

While the Reproduction index increased marginally to 0.88, the weekly incidence rate has fallen and now stands at 137 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the chief indicator the government uses to assess the state of the pandemic.
