Covid-19: 1,345 new cases registered on Monday, most since May 11

Czech authorities registered 1,345 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, about two-thirds more than on the same day a week ago, and the highest daily increase since May 11.

The number of people being treated in hospital for coronavirus stood at 373, the most since early June, according to Ministry of Health data. About 20 percent of patients are in serious condition.

The reproductive number, which indicates how many other people likely will be infected by one person testing positive, now stands at 1.17. The reproductive number has been rising since late August, with the close of the summer holiday season.

To date, over 1.7 million Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the Czech Republic. About 30,512 infected with the virus died.
