Coronavirus: US pharma Novavax to produce vaccine at Czech plant
The American pharmaceutical company Novavax plans to produce an eventual anti-coronavirus vaccine at its Czech plant in Bohumil.
But Roman Prymula, an epidemiologist and government commissioner for health research, told Czech television individual doses may be filled in Germany, where a booster substance made in Sweden will be added.
Novavax bought the company Praha Vaccines in May to gain the capacity to produce over 1 billion doses of its Covid-19 vaccine candidate.
The company received the Trump administration’s largest vaccine contract although Novavax has never brought a vaccine to market in its 33-year history.
Its technology uses moth cells to produce crucial molecules at a much faster rate than typical vaccines, a big advantage in a pandemic.
