Coronavirus: daily rise in Czech cases exceeds 500 for second time
For the second time since March, the daily increase in coronavirus cases in the Czech Republic has exceeded 500, Ministry of Health data show.
On Tuesday, the first day of school, which coincided with the reintroduction of facemasks in public transport and many indoor facilities, 503 cases were recorded. Prague confirmed 142 new cases in 24 hours ending on Tuesday evening, the highest such increase ever.
To date, 25,117 people have been infected, of whom more than 18,000 have recovered and 425 died with Covid-19.
The number of currently ill patients has risen to 6,576. The number of Tuesday's tests will be published by the ministry in the evening.
