COP26: Czechia represented by outgoing PM Andrej Babiš

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš is representing the Czech Republic on Sunday at COP26, a key international climate change conference described by some as a last chance to take meaningful action.

COP26, which is taking place in Glasgow, will likely be one of the last international meetings for Babiš, whose ANO party suffered a narrow defeat in recent parliamentary elections.

The outgoing Czech prime minister has championed nuclear power as a way to help meet the UN’s development agenda regarding global warming.

But Babiš has denounced the EU’s plan to cut carbon emissions via the Green Deal regarding phasing out combustion engines and coal production.
