Constitutional Court overturns regional court’s decision to place minor in children’s home

The Constitutional Court has overturned a ruling by the Regional Court in České Budějovice which ordered a minor to be placed in a children’s home due to extreme ongoing animosities between his parents who were engaged in a huge child custody row. The Constitutional Court criticized the decision, saying that the child was old enough to have been consulted, and concluded that some other solution must be found since placing a minor in a children’s home could damage his emotional development in an irreversible way. Czechia has often been criticized by the EU in the past for putting too many children in children's homes.
