Coalition dischord over possible pension rise beyond framework of law

There is disagreement within the governing coalition over a rise in old age pensions, Czech Television reported. Under the law pensions should go up by CZK 416 a month next year, and this is the most likely scenario, the Social Democrats’ minister of labour and social affairs, Jana Maláčová, told Czech TV.

However, her ministry is also looking at the possibility of increasing the pensions by CZK 500 – so beyond the framework of the law – if inflation is high and wages grow.

This option is rejected by the minister of finance, ANO appointee Alena Schillerová.
