Chvaletice power plant must meet stricter emission limits

The regional government in Pardubice has tightened the Chvaletice power plant's emission limits for nitrogen oxide and mercury, according to the findings of the Czech News Agency. The decision is final and the power plant has not appealed against it.

The Chvaletice plant has been seeking an exemption from mercury and nitrogen oxide emission limits since 2018, but it has so far failed to obtain one due to strong opposition from environmental groups. In the past, the brown coal plant had threatened to stop production if it did not obtain an exemption.
