Christian Democrats back their leader Marian Jurečka
The Christian Democrats backed their leader Marian Jurečka to retain the chairmanship and continue his work as Minister of Labour and Social Affairs until the next party congress, which is due to take place in the second half of October.
The decision was taken by the party national committee on Friday evening. Forty-six members of the committee have supported the resolution expressing confidence in Jurečka, while 26 voted against and 12 abstained.
Mr. Jurečka has been facing calls for his resignation within the Christian Democrats over a Christmas party at his Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs hours after a mass shooting in Prague.
