China demanding negative PCR tests from travelers from Czechia

As of Sunday, January 8, passengers travelling from Czechia to China will have to undergo a PCR test for Covid within 48 hours before boarding a plane heading directly to China, the Chinese Embassy in Prague said in a statement posted on its website. Since there are currently no direct flights from Czechia to China the measure applies to connecting flights.

Meanwhile the Czech authorities announced on Friday that Czechia would no,t for the time being, introduce a requirement for compulsory PCR Covid tests for travelers coming from China. In view of the upsurge of Covid cases in China the EU has recommended that countries with direct air links to the Asian state introduce this requirement.
