Charles University rector on terror shooting: our priority is to boost the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff
The primary task of Charles University in the year following the terror attack on the Faculty of Arts was to provide assistance to survivors, their families and the families of the victims, Rector Milena Králíčková said at a university press conference to mark the one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting. She said the faculty had significantly tightened security measures, so as to provide students and staff with a safer environment and had established a Resilience Centre to help those in need of psychological counselling. The rector said the faculty wanted to enable as many of the injured as possible to return to their studies.
The tragic shooting incident occurred last year on December 21, when a lone shooter, one of the faculty’s students, went on a shooting spree killing 14 people and injuring 25 before committing suicide on the rooftop of the building.
