Charles University rector concerned over dismissal of priest who supported marriage for all
The rector of Charles University, Milena Králíčková, has expressed concern over the dismissal of priest and historian Tomáš Petráček from the Catholic Faculty of Theology and the manner in which students were informed about the matter. She called on the dean of the faculty, Vojtěch Novotný, to calm the situation and to find an amicable solution. On the other hand, Prague Archbishop Jan Graubner has expressed support for the dean’s decision.
Tomáš Petráček, who is an advocate of equal marriage, says that he has been dismissed due to pressure from within the Church and personal antipathy towards him, as in the past, he had supported the current dean's rival for the post.
