Charles University lecturers considering strike action over low pay
Charles University lecturers in the humanities and social sciences are considering striking or suing the university over low wages. They point to an abysmal wage gap across faculties, arguing that while in the sphere of exact sciences, professors' salaries exceed 100,000 crowns, those in the humanities and social sciences do not even receive the average wage in Czechia. An increasing number of employees are joining the unions and calling for protest action. The Education Ministry has promised to deal with the complaint and has set up a special commission to look into the matter.
