Charles Bridge to undergo vital restoration work
One of the most famous landmarks in Prague is undoubtedly the Charles Bridge, which spans the River Vltava and links the Lesser Quarter to the historic Old Town. The bridge, however is in urgent need of repair, and there is still a remote possibility that it could be closed to the public for a lengthy period of time.
Peter Smith braved the elements to see for himself just what the tourists make of one of Czech Republic's most enduring tourist attractions.
So, if you plan to be strolling across the Charles Bridge some time in the near future, will you be disappointed? Hopefully not according to Pavel Jerier, Deputy Director of the Institute for the Care of Historical Monuments.
