Castle: Fiala and Zeman to discuss date for naming government on Monday
Designated Prime Minister Petr Fiala will meet with President Miloš Zeman on Monday in order to discuss a date on which the incoming government will officially be named, the head of the Office of the President Vratislav Mynář told Czech Radio on Friday.
Mr Mynář did not want to disclose whether the president is still refusing to name one of the ministerial candidates. However, he did say that Miloš Zeman still holds reservations when it comes to one of the individuals that the future prime minister wants in his cabinet.
The Czech president has been meeting with each individual ministerial candidate over the past weeks. He was not able to meet with the proposed candidate for minister of agriculture Zdeňek Nekula, due to the latter testing positive for Covid-19. However, Mr Mynář said that Nekula’s naming could be postponed until next year, with Christian Democrat Chairman Marian Jurečka leading the ministry until then.
