Carp prices up year-on-year

The traditional Czech Christmas food carp has gone up from 39 crowns a kilo last year to 47 crowns a kilo this year. The price rise has been attributed to a relatively cool summer, which meant that carp didn't put on so much weight there are less big fish and that's why the price has gone up. There has also been an increase in carp exports this year especially to Germany, where fear of Mad Cow Disease has reportedly led Germans to choose a healthier option.
