Cardinal Dominik Duka represents Czechia at Notre-Dame reopening ceremony
Cardinal Dominik Duka, former Archbishop of Prague, is representing the Czech Republic at the ceremony marking the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, following the devastating fire of 2019.
According to the Prague Archdiocese, Cardinal Duka, accompanied by a Czech Dominican priest, is the sole Czech representative at the event. The ceremony will be followed by a concert for more than 3,000 guests, including numerous heads of state and government.
Ahead of his departure to Paris, Cardinal Duka highlighted the contribution of the Czech Catholic Church to the cathedral’s restoration, amounting to 1.8 million crowns (around 72,000 euros). Of this, one million crowns were donated by the Diocese of Litoměřice, with the remainder raised by other dioceses and private individuals.
