Cabinet approves nominations to 16 ambassadorial posts
The government of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) has approved 16 nominations to ambassadorial posts, Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motorists) told reporters after Monday’s cabinet session. The list will now be submitted to President Petr Pavel.
Earlier this year, the cabinet revoked a decision by the previous government of Petr Fiala (Civic Democrats) on diplomatic postings, with Minister Macinka pledging a more transparent selection aligned with the new administration’s priorities. Ambassadorial appointments require the signature of the president, who has indicated readiness for compromise, while supporting the government’s aim to strengthen Czechia’s representation in key countries.
The nominations cover postings to Ethiopia, Qatar, India, Vietnam, Finland, Egypt, Peru, Portugal, Montenegro, Italy, Chile, North Macedonia, the United States, and permanent missions in New York, Geneva, and Paris.
