The main prize at the Magnesia Litera awards for 2021 went to author and translator Martin Hilský’s publication Shakespeare's England - Portrait of an Age.
Professor emeritus of English Literature, Martin Hilský is one of the country’s most prominent translators of Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets into Czech.
His latest work has been hailed as a fascinating and extensively researched book that should give readers an even deeper understanding of Shakespeare’s work.
In the jubilee 20th year of the annual book awards, it won among 463 registered titles.
