Book by Tomáš Halík wins Forward Indies Award

‘From the Underground Church to Freedom’, a book by Catholic priest and  renowned Czech theologian Tomáš Halík, has won the Foreward INDIES Book of the Year Award in the religion category.

The book, in which Mr. Halík shares for the first time the dramatic story of his life as a secretly ordained priest in Communist Czechoslovakia, was translated into English by Gerald Turner and was published in English by the University of Notre Dame Press.It was also translated into German, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese.

The aim of the Foreword Book of the Year Award, which was established in 1998, is to bring exceptional books produced by independent publishers and their authors to the attention of libraries and booksellers.
