Blatný: British mutation of COVID-19 not yet detected in Czechia
The more contagious mutation of the COVID-19 coronavirus (referred to as SARS-CoV-2 VUI 202012/01), which was first detected in the United Kingdom in December and has since been found in neighbouring Slovakia, Germany and Austria, has not yet been been detected by laboratories in the Czech Republic, Health Minister Jan Blatný said on Tuesday.
Travel from the UK back to the Czech Republic has already been more heavily restricted since the mutation was detected, with people who spent more than 12 hours in the country over the past two weeks being required to produce a negative coronavirus test and go into quarantine before another test is conducted.
