Bells toll for thousands of Covid victims
Bells tolled around the country at midday on Monday in memory of the thousands of victims of Covid-19 since the start of the epidemic a year ago. The commemorative event was held on the anniversary of the first Covid death on March 22, 2020. Since then 24,810 people have succumbed to the disease. People held a minute’s silence in honour of the dead and over 24,000 white crosses in chalk appeared on Prague’s Old Town Square, drawn by the anti-government movement Million Moments for Democracy.
