Babiš vows to personally guarantee Czechia’s foreign and security policy
Andrej Babiš has vowed to personally guarantee Czechia’s foreign and security policy in the new government. In a statement on social media, Babiš responded to concerns that, under the influence of the two smaller parties - SPD and Motorists –the country might veer from its pro-Western policy course and membership in Western structures. Babiš said earlier that Czech membership in the EU and NATO was not negotiable. In response to allegations of racism directed against the honorary chair of the Motorists’ party Filip Turek, who was to have been a member of the future cabinet, Babiš said that the matter was being addressed and the talks are now focused on the coalition’s policy program. He added that he waould take his time and personnel decisions would not be made for another four to six weeks.
