Babiš says government could reintroduce fuel price caps

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has not ruled out reintroducing caps on fuel station margins in response to rising fuel prices. He said the government does not want to cut excise duties again, but will examine refinery margins, which he considers excessive.

Fuel prices in Czechia have risen in recent weeks, with the average price of diesel approaching 46 crowns per litre and Natural 95 petrol topping 42 crowns. Analysts expect prices to rise further in the coming weeks amid tensions in the Middle East.

The government's previous regulation of fuel station margins was in effect for 103 days, from April to July.
