Babiš: Prague Castle wants to open official post-election negotiations on Wednesday
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš attended a 45 minute meeting with Czech President Miloš Zeman on Sunday at the latter’s Lány country residence. Neither side commented on the contents of the meeting to assembled journalists. The ANO party leader said on Saturday that Prague Castle wants to begin post election negotiations on Wednesday.
Mr Babiš said ahead of the meeting that it is not concerned with the results of the elections. The SPOLU and Pirates and Mayors coalitions issued a memorandum on Saturday in which they announced they want to form a government and called on the president to name SPOLU leader Petr Fiala prime minister.
Ahead of the meeting with Prime Minister Babiš, President Zeman congratulated the winners of the elections into the lower-house of Parliament and elected deputies from all parties in a statement provided via his spokesman Jiří Ovčáček.
