Attack on PM Fiala's X account could lead to up to three years in prison, police have launched proceedings

The perpetrator who attacked the account of Prime Minister Petr Fiala on the X network could face up to three years in prison if proven guilty. The police have launched criminal proceedings in the case, on suspicion of the crime of “unauthorised access to a computer system and unauthorised interference with a computer system or information carrier,” Prague police spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová stated.

Hackers attacked Fiala's official account on the social network last Tuesday and published fake posts on it. A fake post also appeared on the account of the coalition group Spolu. The texts in question concerned an attack by the Russian army on Czech soldiers and Czech retaliation for American tariffs. According to the prime minister, the attack came from abroad.
